Onsite Solar to Power Our Factory

Published on June 7, 2019 by Sustentabilidad Vertical

This week, World Environment Day (June 5th) was dedicated to one of the world’s most pressing issue: air pollution; according to United Nations Environment Programme, in many countries (including our own), power generation is a leading source of air pollution.

On this day companies, NGOs and other groups, from sectors such as industry, home, agriculture, waste and transport, decided to take actions to minimize air pollution and shared their actions.

You can find our shared commitment as an event: https://www.worldenvironmentday.global/get-involved/world-environment- day-events-around-world

For this reason, Vertical Knits is taking the challenge to reduce our environmental footprint and installed an onsite rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system in our factory at Baca in May 2019.

When the system starts operating in the next few months, it will convert sunlight into electricity.

This is an integral part of our sustainability commitment, among other initiatives aimed at increasing energy efficiency.

Some important facts:

-1,980 solar panels installed.
-1’113,939 kilowatt-hours per year.
-System can supply up to 8% of our total electricity use* in a year.
